Who can apply?
The Kitty Ferguson Legacy Scholarship is open to current high school seniors and undergrad college students through their senior year who currently reside in the United States.
Applicants should have a meaningful connection to the arts, but you do not have to be pursuing an arts-related major to apply. Students whose academic or career goals remain connected to the arts are encouraged and welcome to apply
What areas of the arts are eligible?
Eligible areas include dance, music, theater, visual arts, photography, creative writing, digital media, production and technical arts, and other creative disciplines.
We recognize that the arts extend beyond the spotlight. Applicants involved in behind-the-scenes creative work; including areas such as stage management, lighting, production, and technical theater are encouraged to apply.
What is required to apply?
Applicants will complete the official scholarship application and provide information about their education, artistic involvement, goals, and experiences.
Applicants must also submit either a written essay or video essay and provide information for three recommenders. An artistic portfolio may be submitted but is optional. There is no minimum GPA requirement
How are recipients selected?
Applications will be reviewed using a structured selection process that considers factors including passion for the arts, character, personal growth, artistic promise, legacy and impact, the applicant’s essay or video response, and the potential impact of the scholarship opportunity.
How much is the award amount?
Two scholars will each receive a $750 scholarship award during the 2026–2027 inaugural scholarship cycle.
When is the last day to apply?
Completed applications including recommendations must be submitted by 26 February 2027.
